The history of our bicycles
Monday, 21 April 2008

The wheel become friend with man a long time ago., but two wheels took a bit longer to go in circulation. It's been over 200yrs  "modern history". Rumors exist about some primitive devices with two wheels, found in Egipt and Babylon by archeologists. Is this a misterious time machineaging over  4000yrs?. "Things" a bit more similar to the bicycle we know today started to appear in the end of the XVIII century, in Germany, France and some refer Italy as well.

Disputes over the appearance of bicycles will have to wait for another day. Since Dublis is happening in 2008 we thought about presenting you the machines that have taken Arnaldo and Piotr to this "two wheel" wonder world. Here follows a brief description of bikes they had over time.

Tricycles e bicycles with standing wheels are not mentioned... We'll start after the 'I know how to ride with two wheels only' period

Foldable bicycle 20" . With Piotr since 1975.

First touring bike 27"3/4 belongs to Piotr since 1980.

Homemade adaptation from various parts,  27"3/4 wheels, belongs to Piotr since 1987.

The old days

Follow link: HISTORY and read about Piotr and Arnaldo older bikes. In the future we intend to create a section dedicated to the history of the bicycle.

Why Ireland?
Arnaldo always had a idea about a big bicylce trip, in total autonomy. He had various ideas like Andorra, Paris, Varsov.. This year a couple friend of his moved to Ireland. This made sense to me as a good destiny... or rather say beginning. For Piotr, Dublin will be one if the last European capitals he has not visited in his long roll of hundreds of travels and expeditions.
